SUSSEX COUNTY SPORTS FOUNDATION RULES

General Rules:

Coaches will have the option of regular line-ups or batting everyone. In the case of regular line-ups, substitution rules must be followed. Courtesy runners for the pitcher and catcher are allowed. In the case of the regular line-ups, the runner must be a sub not in the game. With everybody batting, the last out of the previous inning will be the designated runner/runners.

Slaughter rule:

           12 runs after 3

           10 runs after 4

             8 runs after 5

Time limits:

Softball – one hour – thirty minutes

Baseball – one hour – forty minutes

We will be using USSSA Rules for USSSA Tournaments and they can be found at www.usssa.com

Payments: Payments must be in 30 days prior to the tournament. Our website shows green teams as paid and red as unpaid. Teams that cancel within 21 days of a tournament will receive all funds back  with the exception of $150.00 deposit that will be kept by Sussex County Sports Foundation.

 USSSA BASEBALL:

BATTING ORDER: Coaches may use the rules above in deciding what method of batting order they choose to use. USSSA rules covering different line-up choices can be found in Rule: 8:03, sections a through f.

9U:

STEALING: Cannot Lead off, can leave when ball leaves pitcher's hand. Cannot steal home. Cannot score on wild pitch or passed ball. Can score if batted in, forced in, or if played upon.

INFIELD FLY: Yes, if more than 10 feet in the air.

DROPPED THIRD STRIKE: Batter cannot advance.

10U:

STEALING: Can take lead and can steal home.

INFIELD FLY RULE: Yes, It is in effect.

DROPPED THIRD STRIKE:  Yes, Batter can advance to first

SLAUGHTER RULE: 12-10-8   All Age Groups Slaughter Rule is in effect for all Championship games

TIME LIMIT: One Hour and Forty Minutes. Time limits are in effect for all Championship games.

PITCHING RULES: Coaches may use your own descretion on innings pitched and number of pitches thrown. We do not keep a count.

CONSOLATION GAMES: Teams are expected to know when and where their consolation games are to be played. It is the responsibility of the Manager to check the bracket schedule posted on the tournament board.

GAME TIMES: If games are running ahead of schedule, Teams should be prepared to play 15 minutes before their scheduled game time.
